It has been said the 1911 is the most perfectly designed pistol ever made. Featuring a “bullpup” configuration where the action is located behind the trigger, the Hellion features an overall length of just 28.25-inches while still possessing a 16” barrel. The Hellion sports ambidextrous controls that work in concert with a reversible case ejection system. The result is a 5.56 that combines portability with potent performance.
The bullpup design reduces the overall length drastically, while still allowing you to have a barrel long enough to retain effective downrange performance.
Based on the internationally proven VHS-2 bullpup, which has been employed by the Croatian armed forces in demanding environments ranging from Iraq to Africa and beyond, the Springfield Armory Hellion offers American shooters a semi-automatic 5.56mm version of this highly capable firearm.
The Hellion is fully ambidextrous and features a reversible ejection system for fired cases that requires no additional parts or tools. Complementing this system is a set of fully ambidextrous controls, including the safety, charging handle, magazine, and bolt releases. The result is an ultra-compact 5.56mm that can be easily fired from either shoulder.

Springfield Armory® is proud to announce the release of specialized color offerings for Hellcat® and Hellcat® Pro 9mm pistols. One set of these specialized color versions are made up of a Hellcat OSP and a Hellcat Pro, featuring a “Burnt Bronze” Cerakote finish on the slide. This is complemented by a low-profile black frame and black controls. The other trio of specialized color versions are made up of a Hellcat, Hellcat OSP and Hellcat Pro. All three variants feature a stainless steel slide, matched up with a Robin’s Egg Blue frame.
